I was finally able to paint the blessed mother today, what a satisfying experience I will try and up load a picture but the bandwidth here is not large. I will donate the rosary from my dear friend Tracy , it contains water from Lourdes from France and the statue will hold it high over the heads of the congregation and I hope bring healing to this place.

can you paint her as an african? I have always thought that all of these white images of jesus and mary all over africa are damaging to the psyche of the people.
we(and baby)did make her darker, not pale, and it was my intention to go darker but I do not have a brown paint and to boot we were being supervised (by Mr. Kimball and he was insistent on a lighter tone/as historically accurate). In the next two day I will repaint JC himself and after hanging a few days in the sun, I am sure he would have been very dark...so I will do my best to make a darker tone with the colors I have. Mary was easy because I had blue and ercu (for her dress) right out of the tube but JC is all flesh so it much harder...I will have to mix enough for head to toe
AWESOME AWESOME AWESOME! What did Father Arnold have to say? Good luck with JC.
Oh and, I love your skirt!!
historically accurate? hilarious, since Jesus was historically a middle eastern jew- probably would have been dark!
well at least she is not as pale as her dress, it is more cafe o'lait (but dont get me started on coffee) Father Arnold loves it and of course still wants the stations of the cross painted 10 feet by 5 on the walls. It was actually a very spiritual experience for me and woman kept coming in and praying in front of her while we worked.
Wow Kate, you did wonders w. Mother Mary....she looks beautiful and you look radiant painting her....You look peaceful and happy in general. It is raining very very hard here today and very windy so that 34" of snow is quickly melting and the snow underneath is sweet green. Life seems to be agreeing with you. Have fun with the Church folks and their quest to provide a healing, spiritual center. Such an artiste, Mom would be proud.
FYI, I meant the grass under the snow is a sweet sweet green....Warwick is flooding like nobody's business....the schools were closed due to flooding...the creek in the Village is up to the top and roads are closed all over the place....but Spring is rapidly approaching. I dropped my cellphone in the toilet and missed an appt. due to clock/time change but hey, I love Mars in retrograde.....can't wait til May.
Love you much. Stay safe and well.
